The nonprofit Pro-Voice Project is launching its traveling stage production, Good Faith Medical Judgment: Idaho Physicians Speak, in Sandpoint on Friday, Sept. 25, after which the show will tour across Idaho. The performance will take place at 7 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church (417 N. Fourth Ave., in Sandpoint).
“Right now, Idaho’s obstetricians are practicing under extraordinary pressure. This production invites us to bear witness and understand what that pressure feels like,” said PVP Founder Jen Jackson Quintano.
The documentary-style production is based on interviews with Idaho reproductive health care providers about their choices between practicing in Idaho under the state’s near-total abortion ban or leaving the state. Performers recount actual physicians’ words and experiences to demonstrate how Idaho legislation and the threat of legal action have affected access to health care for individuals and families.
“Statistics can tell us that our health care system is changing, but stories elucidate what those changes mean in the exam room, in a physician’s life, and for the communities and families depending on them,” stated Quintano. “That understanding is essential to better policy and better care.”
The script also draws from research published in the medical journal JAMA Network Open in 2025, which found that between August 2022 and December 2024, Idaho experienced a 35% net decline in OB-GYN physicians practicing obstetrics. Researchers concluded that just 23 obstetric-practicing OB-GYNs served 569,000 Idahoans outside the state’s seven most populous counties.
PVP will host a panel discussion following each show, which will include patient experiences and expert legal and medical knowledge. The six-part community tour will stop in Sandpoint, Coeur d’Alene, Moscow, Salmon, Twin Falls and Hailey. Tickets are pay-what-you-can at bit.ly/4gwPpu1.
