PNW Latin band Milonga to headline Summer Series July 23

Spokane’s hottest Latin band Milonga will play the next Sandpoint Summer Series at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 23 in Farmin Park (Third Avenue and Main Street).

The free outdoor concert is presented by Mattox Farm Productions and funded by local sponsors.

Billed as a band that, “lays down a Pan-Latin buffet of the hottest dance styles that’s straight out of your abuelita’s kitchen,” Milonga is an eight-piece that plays a hot set that will get your hips shaking.

Playing a funky blend of Latin rhythms infused with American jazz, funk, soul and rock, Milonga should prove to be a spirited way to spend your Thursday evening.

“In a world of salsa, Milonga is the whole enchilada!” the band states on its website.

While cha-cha-cha-ing across the park to the music, attendees can also purchase drinks from the bar provided by Eichardt’s Pub. There will also be food trucks on site from Mandala Pizza and Mountain Food Co. Attendees are always welcome to bring their own food and drinks as well, but no outside alcoholic beverages will be admitted.

Mattox Farm Productions’ “Odd Nights Out” theme for its seventh year of free summer concerts in Farmin Park denotes concerts on the odd days in July and August. The next show will be The Jauntee on Aug. 13, followed by TBD on Aug. 27. 

Band sponsors for the series include the Pend Oreille Arts Council, Sandpoint Hotel & Suites, Skyright Roofing and Washington Trust Bank. Event sponsors are the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, Kester’s Kreations, KPND and North Root Architecture. 

Critical partners include the Heartwood Center, the Novas of Evergreen Realty, Sandpoint Reader and Travis Harmon Construction.
