The first of the line-sitters have arrived outside the Festival grounds at Memorial Field.
First in line is 15-year-old Burke Palmer, pictured below. This is the fourth consecutive year that Palmer has sat in line for first position in the line drawing. Armed with a lawn chair and a cooler full of snacks and supplies, Palmer intends to spend the next couple of days stationed at his place at the head of the line for first dibs on preferred seating.
“I arrived at 7:59 a.m. and saw there was no one here, so I plopped my cooler down,” he said. “I’m not going to be switching off with anyone. A lot of people have these intricate methods of switching off and taking breaks. I intend to stay here the whole time.”
