Here's what's happening in March

**Registration Open: POAC Expressions Art Classes. If you are looking for a fun and creative outlet for your teen, POAC art classes are back with two exciting sessions. From April 10 - May 1 is Dimensional Media Design with Molly Gentry, and from May 8 - May 29 is Acrylic Painting with Jenny Benoit. Each 4-week session is just $80 and includes all supplies. Classes will be held in the POAC Gallery Classrooms at 313 N. Second Ave. Each session is limited to 10 students, so visit ArtInSandpoint.com to register or learn more.

28 Saving the Western Monarch and It's Habitat. Join this educational event to learn about Idaho's state insect, the Monarch Butterfly, and the vital need to protect its environment. 29 Bird Houses & Bat Houses for Sale. The Pend Oreille Chapter of the Idaho Master Naturalists will have bird houses (ideal for bluebirds and tree swallows) for sale for $15 each. A few 3-Chamber cedar bat houses will also be available for $75 each. These are suitable for bat nurseries to help you control the mosquitoes in your area. 9 a.m. to noon at the Sandpoint Super Drug parking lot, 604 Fifth Ave.

5 Hands on History. For young children and their caregivers comes this special program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bonner County Historical Society and Museum, 611 S. Ella in Lakeview Park. The April focus is a fiber arts theme. "Historically inspired kids activities and imaginative play."

6 Registration Deadline: Copper Bracelet with Dave Gonzo. In this class students will learn how to safely and properly use the oxyacetylene torch, the properties of copper the difference of work hardened vs. annealed, and more. 7 The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Join in the community rooms for a special, shortened performance with actors in costume. The cast will enchant you with the play's prologue, followed by Asian, the Lion, reading a book for the audience at the Sandpoint Library, 1407 Cedar St. from 3-4 p.m.

8 Kaniksu Folk School Blacksmithing Club. Every second Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. at The Sled Hill Barn, 11735 W. Pine St. Nick Belfry hosts this community work group to connect interested people and share blacksmithing knowledge and skills. 10-May 1 Wildcrafting with Kaniksu Land Trust: Carving Songbirds. From 3:30-5 p.m. this four-week class will be held on Thursdays (April 10 - May 1) at the Sled Hill Barn, 11735 W. Pine St. This afterschool wood craft workshop series is available to all kids ages 7+. Kids will learn to identify some of the small birds in their area and then learn basic woodcarving technique to create sculptures of the birds they observe. 11 Registration Deadline: 'Ten Acres and a Dream' The University of Idaho Extension is offering a 1-day program designed to help owners of small rural acreages manage their land and meet their goals. The workshop itself will be held on April 19th. Topics covered in the program will include: living on the land � a great American tradition; homesteading infrastructure; growing fruits, vegetables, and other crops on small acreages; working with county government; raising large and small livestock and managing pastures on small acreages; and Idaho Panhandle forestry fundamentals. 12 Wolf Trapper Certifications: Instructor-Led. Anyone who intends to trap wolves must attend both trapper education and a separate wolf trapper education course prior to purchasing wolf trapping tags. 16 SPIN Meeting: Mental Health. Join the Community Resource EnVision Center and a group of local service providers for our quarterly SPIN (Service Providers Information Network) Meeting. This platform has been enormously helpful in developing meaningful relationships and effective solutions to improve services across a range of topics. This month we will hear from service providers who are coming together to help combat the Mental Health crisis. Event will be held at 130 McGhee Rd., Ste 220 from 10 a.m. to noon.

26 Kaniksu Folk School: Embroidered Clothing with Hillary DeCecchis. Join from 4-6 p.m. at The Sled Hill Barn, 11735 W. Pine St. Students will add embroidery to a garment of their own, or embroider a patch for a future project. Stick and Stitch patterns with botanical themes will be available or students are welcome to create their own patterns. Instructions and all other necessary materials will be provided. 27 Kaniksu Folk School: Wild Medicine with Sandi Nizzoli. From 2-5 p.m. at The Sled Hill Barn, 11735 W. Pine St. Sandi will walk you through Pine Street Woods to find medicine in season. Discover introductory herbal terminology, plant identification, harvesting, plant signature of medicinal qualities and processing to begin making your own medicine to take home. 27 Green Thumb Academy. Join for this online garden series on the last Thursday of each month. From 5:30-6 p.m. (PST). The March event will consist of Planning for Seed Starts. Enjoy these free, fast paced, bite-sized, educational sessions from the comfort of your home via Zoom. Bonner County Extension will be offering presentations on timely garden topics through the year. 28 Monday Teen Hangout. 3-5 p.m. in the Teen Zone at the Sandpoint Library, 1407 Cedar St. Come meet up with friends, build relationships, create art, play games, and grow your teen community.

28 Monday Raspberry Pi Club. Join from 3:30-5 p.m. in the new explorations lab at the Sandpoint Library, 1407 Cedar St. Explore the basics of Python programming through hands-on projects. This weekly class is open to older kids and teens. Supplies are limited. Register to join on Mondays in April.

28-May 19 Wildcrafting with Kaniksu Land Trust: Fiber Arts Studio. From 3:30-5 p.m. this four-week class will be held on Mondays (April 28 thru May 19) at the Sled Hill Barn, 11735 W. Pine St. This afterschool textile workshop series is available to all kids ages 7+. Kids will  learn from artisan instructors, Hillary DeCeccis and Bri Larson how to make a sun print, different embroidery stitches and apply basic sewing techniques. Students will go home with a beautifully embroidered bag or a set of embroidered cards for special occasions. No prior experience is required. Cost: $80, all tools and materials provided.
