Uncommonly beautiful style at The Hive

At the onset, the music of The Sweet Lillies is heartfelt and collaborative.

The Boulder, Colo. quartet conjures a sonic amalgamation between members Julie Gussaroff, Becca Bisque, JJ Murphy and Jones Maynard. Their instrumentation of electric guitar, viola/violin, upright and electric bass with drums/percussion is made sweeter thanks to ethereal vocal harmonies. 

Their songs are deep and fun, dripping with life experiences and artistry into a style they call “Americana roots pop fusion.” 

From their earthy roots, the band departs just as quickly into experimental folk and jazz, exploring the blues, Southern rock ’n’ roll and even taking forays into hip hop and pop.

The four-piece band plays high-energy shows, incorporating different styles, cultures and ideas into their songwriting and musical output.

They’ve shared the stage with some legendary performers, including Sam Bush, George Porter Jr., Peter Rowan, Jason Hahn from The String Cheese Incident and many more.

They’ve evolved from a folk-and-bluegrass group into a genre-bending powerhouse, always eager to bring a smile to their audiences’ faces.
