The Independence Race Team brings Warren Miller’s Days Off to the Panida

By Reader Staff

Raise money for local youth athletes and live vicariously through some of the world’s best athletes at the upcoming screening of Warren Miller’s 77th ski film, Days Off, on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Panida Theater (300 N. First Ave., in downtown Sandpoint).

Presented by Mountain Fever Productions, the showing begins at 7 p.m. and will include a silent auction and raffle prizes.

Days Off follows host Katie Burrell — a celebrated filmmaker, comedian and winter-sports enthusiast — as she adventures with fellow professional cold weather athletes and explores both their extreme feats and how they unwind after a long day on the slopes.

Tickets are $18 at the door or online at panida.org.

Proceeds from the evening benefit the local Independence Race Team, a nonprofit organization that gives skiers ages 7-16 free coaching, equipment and insurance to ensure they have the opportunity to race.

To raise funds for the upcoming crop of skiers, the team will raffle off four prizes at intermission: a multi-day Schweitzer ski vacation for two, a Sandpoint Wellness Tour, a day of sailing on Lake Pend Oreille and a Priest Lake husky sled dog tour. The group will also auction off items like a case of wine and a Schweitzer season pass during the showing.
