SkyRight Roofing and Gutters honors late-Ponderay Police Chief Mike Hutter with free roof installation

By Reader Staff

SkyRight Roofing and Gutters will be installing this year’s roof giveaway for Mary Hutter, selected in honor of her late-husband, Mike Hutter, a former Sandpoint police officer and Ponderay police chief.

SkyRight announced the selection on what would have been Mike Hutter’s 64th birthday, surprising Mary Hutter with the news that she had been chosen as the recipient of the company’s roof giveaway.

For years, Mike and friends patched and tarped the roof to keep it going. When SkyRight opened nominations for the giveaway this spring, the community — which knew the story and wanted to help finally get the roof replaced — overwhelmingly nominated Mary Hutter.

The installation took place July 10 in Ponderay.

The original surprise brought together family, friends, local law enforcement and community members. SkyRight is grateful to everyone who helped make the giveaway possible, including CertainTeed for supporting this year’s project.

SkyRight Roofing and Gutters serves North Idaho and western Montana, including Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, Coeur d’Alene, Rathdrum, Post Falls, Heron and surrounding areas. Learn more at skyright.com.
