Despite calls for an open process from residents like Bonner County Daily Bee publisher Jim McKiernan, the city of Sandpoint announced this week it was running a closed hiring process for the controversial new city administrator position.
According to Sandpoint City Clerk Maree Peck, the city won’t seek local input from residents or field candidates in public forums. Instead, it will exercise its rights to hire new staff through an internal process.
We’ll be taking a closer look at the city administrator hiring process in next week’s issue of the Reader, so stay tuned.
