POAC hosts jazz trio Duende Libre at The Heartwood Center

By Reader Staff

As part of their ongoing Performing Arts Season, Pend Oreille Arts Council is hosting award-winning jazz trio Duende Libre at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 at The Heartwood Center, 615 Oak St., in Sandpoint.

Playing music that celebrates the connections between global rhythms from Cuba, Brazil and the Mediterranian with the American jazz tradition, Duende Libre plays a euphoric new jazz that honors its historical roots while pushing open the boundaries of the genre.

Core members Alex Chadsey (bandleader and keys), Jeff Busch (percussion) and Farko Dosumov (bass), Duende Libre is influenced by the trio’s direct connections with master musicians including Clinton Fearon, Dudley Nesbitt, Dave Hassel, Jesse Bannister, Chucho Valdés, Carlos Santana and others.

With sizzling rhythms, grooving basslines, experimental meters and melodic hooks, Duende Libre will not only impress jazz aficionados, but music lovers across multiple genres.

Tickets are available for purchase at artinsandpoint.org, with adult tickets going for $25 and students for $10. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m.
