Nostalgia-inspiring side group includes Sandpoint’s own Shook Twins

The 1990s are so hot right now. What better way to celebrate the music — and questionable fashion decisions — of that decade than to attend a ’90s prom as an adult?
Enter Sideboob, the nostalgic supergroup playing the hits we’ve all loved since the 1990s.
Sideboob will host their popular ’90s prom concert at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5 at The Hive (207 N. First Ave.) with tickets going for $25 plus taxes and fees. Table reservations, which include four tickets, are available for $220 plus fees.
Led by Sandpoint’s own Katelyn and Laurie Shook of Shook Twins, along with Megan Letts, Sideboob is a force to be reckoned with. The all-femme band extraordinaire has sold out multiple shows in the past, and is coming off three sold-out shows in Portland and Seattle with popular ’90s prom vibes.
“The whole prom concept was Laurie’s idea,” Katelyn told the Reader. “She wanted to create a night where us elder millennials can relive or redo our prom experiences with a safe space to be our true selves.”
Sideboob decks concert halls with era-specific prom decorations and will have a photo booth on-site for audience members to capture their memories.

“We even pick and crown a prom king and queen,” she said. “That honor goes to a couple that’s most decked out in prom attire, singing the loudest, dancing the hardest and giving the best vibes of the night.”
Sideboob’s song selections are varied, but always tug at those nostalgic heartstrings for those who were alive and young during the 1990s. They play hits from The Cranberries, Britney Spears, Sheryl Crow, Christina Aguilera, TLC and many more.
As usual, this year they’ll invite guests to join them onstage for various songs.
“Guest singers/players for this show are our returning favorite Sandpoint boobs Cadie Archer, Meg Turner and Alex Cope singing some hit songs and Kristy Osmunson and Noelle Argue on strings.”
Along with Letts and the Shooks, the band will feature eight core members from Portland and Seattle, as well as members of the Seattle band Kuinka.
Sideboob’s performances are a rollicking affair, with sparkly attire on stage and in the crowd, and the group’s dedication to performing fan-favorites in an authentic way and providing a safe space for fun and music to live comfortably.
“We’re gonna bring down the house with our woman power and these ’90s hits,” Katelyn said. “Come join the ‘boobment.’”

Sandpoint in Pictures
