Sandpoint Summer Series kicks off its 7th year of free outdoor concerts with Boot Juice

For the past seven years, Robb Talbott with Mattox Farm Productions has hosted the Sandpoint Summer Series, a free outdoor concert at Farmin Park in Sandpoint. Thanks to generous local sponsorships, the concert series remains free and continues to draw nationally touring bands to the panhandle.
The series will kick off its “Odd Nights Out” concerts on Thursday, July 9 at 6 p.m. with Boot Juice, a seven-piece, high-energy band from Northern California. Boot Juice plays a fun mix of rock and Americana and are well known for their infectious energy on stage.
“They’re just fun,” Talbott told the Reader. “Their sound is going to appeal to a lot of people and bring everyone together in the park, and that’s kind of the whole idea.”
Boot Juice plays an eclectic arrangement of original music, peppered with covers that will inspire audience members to kick off their sandals and dance on the lawn at Farmin Park.
Along with free tunes, the series will also feature a bar provided by Eichardt’s Pub and food trucks will be on site from Mandala Pizza and Mountain Food Co. Also, attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drinks, but no outside alcoholic beverages will be allowed inside the venue.
Talbott wanted to thank the community for coming out to support his efforts to obtain a Levitt Foundation grant, which funds free, outdoor music shows around the country.

“We ended up getting 27th out of 100, which is pretty dang good,” Talbott said. “I think the top 23 applicants ended up getting money, so we were really close and we were one of the smaller communities in the running.”
Band sponsors for the series include the Pend Oreille Arts Council and Washington Trust Bank. Event sponsors are Skyright Roofing, Kester’s Kreations, KPND, Sandpoint Hotel & Suites, North Root Architecture and the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce. Critical partners include the Novas of Evergreen Realty, the Heartwood Center, Sandpoint Reader and Travis Harman Construction.
The series — which takes place on odd-numbered Thursdays in July and August — will feature the Spokane Latin band Milonga on July 23, followed by Colorado-based The Jauntee on Aug. 13 and a TBD performer for the final night on Aug. 27.
