John Craigie returns for Panida show

For the past couple of decades, John Craigie has kicked around the world with his guitar and a suitcase full of songs, living the embodiment of a troubadour in every way.

Craigie will return to Sandpoint for a special concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 17 at the Panida Theater (300 N. First Ave.).

Craigie’s music checks all the boxes. His songs fluctuate between hilarious romps that evoke smiles to soulful ballads that bring tears of nostalgia and upbeat tunes that get people dancing with abandon. Every Craigie show is a cathartic experience.

With a tireless tour schedule, Craigie is a household name in dozens of small towns around the country — including Sandpoint — as well as a festival performer who draws thousands. He’s played alongside Langhorne Slim, Sierra Hull, Gregory Alan Isakov and Jack Johnson, not to mention numerous collaborations with Sandpoint’s own Shook Twins.

Joining Craigie is another local favorite Bart Budwig, who can be explained as a “cosmic country crooner,” who writes folky, jazzy, thrum-and-strum rhythms. He plays a mean trumpet, too.

The show is presented by Mattox Farm Productions and is open to all ages. Doors open at 7 p.m.
