The original Sandpoint Reader was launched in 2004 by Zach Hagadone, John Reuter, Chris DeCleur and contributing writer Ben Olson. An alternative weekly started on a shoe-string budget, fueled by a passion for journalism and community, the Reader published with integrity, edge and heart until 2012 when the trio departed for other adventures.
In early 2015, after a two-year hiatus, the Reader came back to life with Ben Olson as publisher and Cameron Rasmusson as editor. The first issue of the newly relaunched Reader hit the street January 22, 2015, and now publishes every Thursday morning. Original owner and editor Zach Hagadone rejoined the Reader staff in July 2019.
The Reader partners with Keokee, the media and marketing company that publishes Sandpoint Magazine and Sandpoint Online. We partner with Sandpoint Online in our website and digital efforts, including sharing content between our two sites.
