Important dates for the 2026 general election

The 2026 midterm general election is on the horizon, with Election Day falling on Tuesday, Nov. 3, when polls will open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. at local voting locations. In the meantime, a number of other important dates are coming up.

Candidates had until Sept. 4 to withdraw from their respective races or file as nonpartisan write-ins, which means the ballots are now set.

Early voting will be open from Monday, Oct. 19-Friday, Oct. 30, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Bonner County Elections Office (1500 Hwy. 2, Ste. 124, in Sandpoint).

The last day to pre-register with the County Clerk’s Office is Friday, Oct. 23.

The last day to request an absentee ballot will also be on Friday, Oct. 23, with requests due — not just postmarked — by 8 p.m. that day.

More election notices are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 29.
